Bible Baby Names is a unique baby name book. It defines, pronounces, and
provides references to the Bible for approximately 630 biblical names, from
both the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament) and the Christian Bible (The New
Testament.)
Bible Baby Names is a practical guide to biblical names that fit in with
contemporary American tastes and trends. This is not a dictionary, nor does it
pretend to be comprehensive (there are approximately 3,300 names in both
Testaments), nor is it a scholarly work. So you won't find Jezebel, Judas, or
Amalek - names strongly associated with evil-doers. The book does "push the
envelope" a bit, including, for example, Vashti, the spurned wife in the Book of
Esther and even Lilith, an apocryphal demon (and according to legend Adam's
first wife) who has inspired new thinking about the role of women in the Bible.
Divided into sections for boys' and girls' names, Bible Baby Names includes an
essay on the power of choosing a name from scripture.
